In 2022, the team launched the Exceed Campus Challenge to establish Wabtec as a leader in railway engineering technology and to build connections with top institutions in India. The initiative involved engaging with over 35 leading institutions across the country, inviting teams to present their solutions to real-world rail technology problems. Over 500+ students from 170 teams applied, with 25 teams shortlisted and 8 finalist teams participating at the WITEC campus in Bangalore on January 17th and 18th for campus visits and final project presentations.
The finalists experienced interdisciplinary engineering design, lab, and testing work across mechanical, software & controls, and digital disciplines. Each shortlisted team was paired with technical specialists as mentors to refine their projects. These mentors worked with the teams for over four months, providing a rigorous test of endurance for both the students and the mentors.

RECAP of EXCEED CAMPUS CHALLENGE
The team conceptualized Exceed Campus Challenge in 2019 to establish Wabtec as a Railway engineering technology major and establish connect with some top institutes in India. The team engaged with over 20 Govt. of India Institutes of Eminence and top-tier institutes across India to present their ideas as a team on real world rail technology problems. Over 500 students from 170 teams applied, out of which 25 teams were shortlisted, and 9 teams were finalists to participate at the JFWTC campus, Bangalore, on 23rd & 24th January for campus visit and the final project presentations.
The finalist-students got a first-hand exposure to the interdisciplinary engineering design, lab, and testing work consisting of mechanical, software & controls, and digital disciplines. All along the project execution, each of the shortlisted teams were also assigned technical specialists as mentors to help refine their understanding and interpretation of their presentations. The mentors engaged with the teams for over 4 months which was an endurance test for the student teams and us.
